I just drove up the Aldie Dam Road today and saw these two abandoned houses. They seem extremely old, but in good shape. I wonder who lived there, and when.
ReplyDeleteThey are fascinating! In fact, I drove back out there last Friday to show them to a friend (post to follow.) Unfortunately, I don't have any information on them. My suggestion would be to contact the folks at the Balch Library in Leesburg and see if they have any files for structures on Aldie Mill Road. If they don't have a specific file on the houses, they will have many reference materials that identify historical land ownership in Loudoun County. Being so close to the Mill, (which has been extensively researched over the years) I'm going to bet someone knows something... Good luck!
