Gunston Hall's Fifth Annual Seeds of Independence Program
"Apples to cannonballs: The season of war on Mason's Neck brought a harvest of dislocation, personal jeopardy, and economic loss to the inhabitants caught between the lines of the conflict."
Our fifth annual program celebrating the history of the African American community on Mason Neck was a huge success!
This years film "Between the Lines: Free Blacks Living on Mason's Neck During the Civil War" was fantastic. Our speaker, Kym Rice, of George Washington University was great. A truly wonderful afternoon was had by all.
I am honored to be a part of this amazing group of people.
