I was a child when Mary Barbour, the last resident of the house, died. Like the Richardson House, the Barbour house was supposed to be demolished. Thanks to locals interested in preserving historical sites, the Barbour house was saved and relocated a few blocks away.
A pity that the Richardson House wasn't rescued! In many ways, it was more historical than the Barbour House -- and more elegant, too.
