Located on Centreville Road, Brookside (aka Merrybrook) was the home of confederate spy, Laura Ratcliffe.

There is a family cemetery (FX064) near the house. From my vantage point on public property, I was unable to pinpoint its location.

Of interest: a small wooden peg utilized as some sort of marker. I rarely see wooden markers of any kind in the Mid-Atlantic region. I have no idea how old the wooden marker is, why it is so close to the larger headstone, or indeed if it is actually marking a burial.
